The HomeFix Show has a new home and it is on 670 KBOI! Joe kicks off the new era of HomeFix and tries to work through the “new digs” jitters. With only a one hour show for now, callers pack the lines and ask about getting more water pressure out of a well, painting wood windows, slow running faucets, and getting wood trim to fit in a door jamb. Joe also announces the winner of the Dremel 300 Rotary Tool contest.

Joe is out of town this week, and he really liked the January 16 show so he aired it again. If you missed it, here it is.

Joe opens the show by talking about the projected increases in lumber costs
for this Spring. He gets into why it is supposed to happen, the causes, and
the results. He also talks about what a frost heave is and what can be done,
and why fluorescent lights do not work well in cold temperatures. Idaho Power
provides a tip on space heater safety and callers ask about aligning patio doors
for a better fit, repairing chimney caps, and structural remodeling concerns.

Joe broadcasts from a hotel room in Moscow this weekend and discusses some window replacement tips, frozen pipe advice, his pet
peeve of not being able to see house numbers, weatherstripping and energy saving tips, blowing out sprinkler systems, some goofy
sheetrock textures.  Callers ask about getting hot water to sinks faster, spiders getting into a house, adding concrete to an existing
slab.  Joe also talks about a 20 minute quickie inspection of your bathroom to look for water damage.

Joe discusses if now is the right time to put an addition onto your house. Callers ask about warping hardwood floors, painting concrete patios with patterns, sprinkler head filter cleaning, smoke detector trouble shooting, and an Idaho Power tip about shower head water efficiency to save energy.
